Rams Selected to Host NIVC

Colorado State will make its first appearance in the National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC).

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State will make its debut in the NIVC this coming week, serving as host for three teams – Tulsa, Houston Baptist and UTEP. The Rams will face Houston Baptist on Thursday, Dec. 2 at 7:30 p.m., MT in Moby Arena. The winner of the first round will play on Friday, Dec. 3 at 7 p.m., MT against the winner of Tulsa/UTEP.
 
Colorado State finished the regular season 18-10 overall and 14-4 in the Mountain West, securing its 17th regular-season Mountain West title and 22nd overall. The Rams returned to the reinstated Mountain West Tournament, falling to host UNLV in five sets last Thursday.
 
Colorado State and Houston Baptist will meet for the first time in program history with the chance for the Rams to face UTEP for the 21st (17-3) or Tulsa for the third (2-0).
 
This is the fourth edition of the NIVC since its reboot through Triple Crown Sports and will feature a field of 31 teams; the event previously ran from 1989-95 and was canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 global pandemic.
