Howell Named True Freshman All-American by 247Sports

Howell was the highest graded freshman in the nation by Pro Football Focus.

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – All-America honors are starting to collect around the Colorado State football program as true freshman safety Jack Howell was named to the 247Sports True Freshman All-American team.

Howell, a true freshman safety out of Chandler, Ariz., was selected to the team earlier this week after compiling an impressive debut campaign.

He did not play in the season opener, but soon became a regular in the defensive rotation, appearing in 10 games and starting six. He finished fifth on the team with 64 tackles, including 3.5 tackles for loss. He intercepted one pass and was credited with four pass breakups as he closed the season as Pro Football Focus' highest-graded true freshman safety.

Howell becomes the first Ram true freshman to be recognized since current teammate Dante Wright, who was named by both ESPN and FWAA in 2019 as a wide receiver to their true freshman teams.
