Fort Collins senior earned the honor after winning his second tournament in two outings
FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Colorado State senior AJ Ott has been named the Mountain West Men's Golfer of the Week for the second consecutive week, the league announced today. This is the third time that Ott has earned the award, as he was named Co-Golfer of the Week last year with teammate Davis Bryant prior to last week's honor.
At the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate, Ott came into the final day with a two-shot lead and was able to make that stand with a 4-under 68 and a 54-hole total of 11-under 205 (69-68-68) to win by two over Georgia Tech's Noah Norton. The Fort Collins native made just three bogeys in 54 holes in this tournament and just nine in the two events so far as compared to one eagle and 30 birdies. He is the seventh CSU player with multiple individual wins in a single season, the 10th Ram in CSU history with multiple individual career wins and the first to win back-to-back tournaments since Blake Cannon did it in 2016-17. This was his seventh top-5, 12th top-10 and 18th top-20 finish in his 43 events played.
CSU will return to the course March 8-10 at the Lamkin Grips San Diego Classic in Chula Vista, Calif.
