Rams Come Up Short in Five Setter at Spartans

Colorado State took the first and came back in the fourth set to force a five-set match, but came up short.
SAN JOSE, Calif. – Colorado State looked for the series sweep at San Jose State, forcing the match to go five sets but came up short. The Rams have went the distance in three of the last four contests in Spartan Gym and haven't been favorable dropping those matches.

The Rams came out in full force in the opening frame, hitting .259 and kept the Spartans to a .121 hitting mark to take the first set, 25-21. San Jose State regrouped and took the next two games (25-13, 25-16), hitting .536 and .467, respectfully, while CSU was kept to a .136 and .054 percentage. Colorado State force a fifth set after taking the fourth game, 25-22 after hitting .326 with just one hitting error. In the final set, the Spartans took an early lead and kept it on their way to a 15-11 victory.

Alexa Roumeliotis led the backrow with 17 digs.

- Breana Runnels led the Rams with 17 kills and hitting .436
- Kennedy Stanford added 14 kills and six digs
- Barrett Power dished out 42 assists and 10 digs for her first career double-double
- Jacqi Van Liefde and Sasha Colombo controlled the net with four blocks each
