Colorado State Basketball Programs Now Have a Brother-Sister Combo

FORT COLLINS, Colo.  – It is a family affair for the Colorado State basketball teams after the women's team inked Jessica Moors to join her older brother, James, of the men's team in playing collegiately inside Moby Arena, announced Wednesday by head coach Ryun Williams.

"We are excited to welcome Jess to our program," Williams said. "First of all, I love how passionate this young lady is about the game and the work she puts into becoming a better player. You combine that with her athleticism, length, shooting ability and versatility of defending multiple positions – it equates to a player that will be a nice fit with how we like to play. Jess is the epitome of a student-athlete and we could not be more excited to coach her."

The 5-foot-11 guard from Auckland, New Zealand comes to Fort Collins for the 2021-22 season as a freshman with experience at three levels – high school, club and international. For the New Zealand national team, Moors has played on the U-16, U-17, and most recently was a starter on the U-19 team that finished second in the 2019 FIBA Oceania Championships. She averages 20.3 points, 10.2 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game. The ever-growing 3-on-3 basketball is an area Moors has been involved with since 2015 and on New Zealand's select team that came in third at the national tournament.

Club-wise, Moors is a part of the 2020 NZ WNBL North Harbour Breeze that has won back-to-back titles in the U-19 league and the women's NBL. She was named to the 10-person all-tournament team after the 2019 run.

Like most incoming high school student-athletes, Moors had her senior high school season cancelled due to COVID-19. At Westlake Girls High School, Moors played basketball, volleyball and netball. As a junior, she helped WGHS finish runner-up at the Auckland Secondary School Championships and fourth at the New Zealand Secondary School Championships, while also taking third in the 3x3 national tournament. She helped raise a championship trophy for her volleyball team in her sophomore campaign and placed third in basketball nationals. To start high school, Moors was named Rookie of the Year for the basketball team.

Moors and the recently signed Upe Atosu puts the Rams at five newcomers for the upcoming season, joining the group of three freshmen – Kylee Arzner, of McMinnville, Ore.; Anna Prim of Lleida, Spain; and Clara Gomez of Sabadell, Spain.
