Colorado State inks Fresno State Transfer for 2021-22 Season
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Dipping into its own conference, Colorado State women's basketball signs transfer Kendyll Kinzer from Fresno State, announced Thursday by head coach Ryun Williams.
Â
Standing at 6-foot-1 and being able to shoot it from distance, Kinzer, who will enter CSU as a junior, creates tough matchups for opponents on both sides of the floor. In her two years as a Bulldog, she played 52 of 60 games, accumulating the team's second-most threes made in the span at 59. Â Â
Â
"We are very excited to welcome Kendyll to Colorado State," Williams said. "Known as one of the conference's most prolific shooters, and a big thorn in the Rams' side when we played the Bulldogs, it will be nice seeing Kendyll let it fly in the green and gold! Her length, athleticism and interchangeableness will be fun to coach! Kendyll is a high character young lady and exceptional student who Ram fans will enjoy cheering on!"
Â
Team-wise, Kinzer has been a part of a winning Fresno State program that has gone 42-18 in two years with a Mountain West regular season championship and two appearances in the conference tournament final. As a freshman, Kinzer saw action in 28 games, averaging 4.1 points per game while shooting 31.0 % from three. This past season, Kinzer started four of 24 games played, contributing 4.7 ppg and a 38.1% clip from 3. The Bulldogs concluded the season at the WNIT Round of 16 with a 17-11 record. In her two years with FS, Kinzer tallied 17 games of multiple 3s and four double-digit scoring games.
Â
Prior to Fresno, Kinzer reigned from Lewiston, Idaho where she was the 2018-19 Inland Empire Player of the Year and North Idaho Female Basketball Player of the Year, while playing for Lewiston High School. She was the 2019 Idaho All-Star Game MVP and ala the recently retired Tori Williams, she was the 3-point shot champion and a McDonald's All-American nominee. She led Lewiston High School in points, rebounds and shooting percentage during each of her final three seasons.
Â
Kinzer and the recently signed Jess Moors and Upe Atosu sets the Rams at six newcomers for the upcoming season, joining the group of three freshmen – Kylee Arzner, of McMinnville, Ore.; Anna Prim of Lleida, Spain; and Clara Gomez of Sabadell, Spain.
