Colorado State Goes 3-for-4 in MW Weekly Awards

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Eric Hamer, Allam Bushara and Jordan Lanning each were named Mountain West Athlete of the Week, announced Tuesday afternoon by the league office.

Hamer's performance of MW Men's Track Athlete of the Week came at the Sound Running College Invite last Friday night prior to Bushara and Lanning's feats in the field Saturday at Colorado State's home meet – Doug Max Invitational.

In Irvine, Calif., Hamer won the 10,000-meter race with a time of 28:08.95 to capture the school record and to record the fourth-best time in the NCAA this season. Hamer, of Monument, Colo., unseated former teammate Jerrell Mock of the school's No. 1 mark of 28:11.80 (3-31-17). Prior to the race, Hamer occupied the sixth-best mark in school history at 29:15.91.

Bushara, of Fort Collins, Colo., made it 2-for-2 in CSU triple jump records as he paired his indoor No. 1 mark that he captured about a month ago with an outdoor top mark in his first collegiate outdoor event. With a jump of 51'1.5'', Bushara won the event by over three feet in front of the next competitor. Across the NCAA, the mark sits 32nd overall and second among Mountain West competitors. He passed Ryan Billups who owned the previous No. 1 spot since 2010 at 50'8.75''. Only Jonathan Edmunds with a jump of 50'7.25'' joins the three in student-athletes that have eclipsed 50-feet.

Five personal records encapsulated Lanning's premier on the Jack Christiansen Track with the high jump highlighting the bunch. The Bayfield, Colo. native cleared 5'9.25'' to win the event and tie the sixth-best mark in school history. The height lies 21st on NCAA's outdoor performance list and is second in the MW. Lanning proceeded to win the javelin, and take second in the 200, while finishing 12th in the shot put and long jump.

The Rams are back in action this Saturday, April 10th at the Colorado Invitational in Boulder, Colo.
