The fifth-year senior posted a pair of 2-under 70s and is in contention to advance

STILLWATER, Okla. – Colorado State's AJ Ott was one of nine players to post both rounds under-par today and is tied for fourth after 36 holes of the NCAA Stillwater Regional, May 17. Due to weather predictions for the week, two rounds were played today on Oklahoma State's Karsten Creek Golf Course (Par 72 – 7,502 yards) in Stillwater, Okla.

"AJ had a great day,' head coach Christian Newton said. "He took advantage of Karsten Creek being about as docile as you will see it. He set himself up to have a chance to advance to the NCAA Championship in the next round.

Ott posted 2-under 70 for each of his first two rounds to finish the first day at 4-under 140. He had 11 birdies to five bogeys and one double bogey on the round. Through 11 holes of the second round, Ott had fallen to 1-under for the tournament but three consecutive birdies on Nos. 12, 13 and 14 and then finishing off with four straight pars gave Ott the 4-under total. SMU's Noah Goodwin is the individual leader at 11-under 133, with Sam Houston's William Holcomb in second overall and the top non-advancing individual at 6-under 138.

The final round will be played tomorrow starting at 10 a.m. CT for the teams. Ott is scheduled to tee off No. 1 at 11:34 a.m. MT as he competes for an individual spot at the NCAA Championship as the top five teams and the top individual not on one of the advancing teams will compete May 28-31 at Grayhawk Golf Club's Raptor Course in Scottsdale, Ariz.
