Graduate Picks Up One More Accolade
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Coming in the mail for Lore Devos back in Belgium will be a CoSIDA Academic All-District First-Team certificate as her name was listed among the four other honorees for District 7, announced Thursday by the organization.
Â
The 2020-21 Academic All-District® Women's Basketball Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Â
Devos, of Kortrijk, Belgium, graduated with a degree in Biochemistry, sporting a 3.95 grade point average. The academic honor adds to her success in the classroom at Colorado State, which already consisted of three Academic All-Mountain West honors and three Mountain West scholar-athlete nods. On the court in 2020-21, the All-MW guard started 20 of 21 games played, contributing 13.0 points and 7.1 rebounds per game.
Â
For the Rams, Devos represents the eighth women's basketball student-athlete to collect the award and the 10th overall women's basketball honor with Lindsay Thomas (2004, 2006) and Teresa James (1993, 1994) achieving it twice. The other Rams that Devos joins in this exclusive group include Gritt Ryder (2015), Caitlin Duffy (2014), Ashley Augspurger (2003), Shannon Strecker (2003), and Kathy Lightfoot (1981).
Â
District 7 consists of institutions in Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma and Texas. Also receiving the award with Devos for the district include Vivian Gray (Texas Tech), Ayoka Lee (Kansas State), Anna McLeod (Abilene Christian), and Stephanie Visscher (Stephen F. Austin State).
Â
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in late May.
