Men's Golf Adds Jones, Pabin To 2021-22 Roster

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State men's golf has added Connor Jones (Westminster, Colo./Mountain Range HS (Denver)) and Jay Pabin (Georgetown, Texas/Lovejoy HS) to the roster for the 2021-22 season, head coach Christian Newton announced today.
 
Connor Jones (Westminster, Colo./Mountain Range HS (Denver))
Joining the CSU program in 2021-22 after spending his first two collegiate seasons at the University of Denver.
 
2020-21 (SOPHOMORE): Appeared in six tournaments and played in 17 rounds… Had a 75.28 scoring average with five rounds of par or better including a season-low 70 in the second round of the NCAA Cle Elum Regional… Best finish was a tie for 51st at the BYU Cougar Classic. 

2019-20 (FRESHMAN): Played in seven tournaments and 19 rounds on the year…. Averaged 73.0 strokes per round with a pair of top-10 finishes and seven rounds of par or better, four of them in the 60s… Took home individual medalist honors at the UNC Individual Event on Sept. 30 with a two-round total of 7-under… Tied for fifth at the Lew Fowler Invitational.

HIGH SCHOOL: Attended Mountain Range High... Part of a runner-up team as a senior in the Colorado State 5A Championship... Was the Front Range League Scoring Average winner... Named Mountain Range Athlete of the Year as a senior... Was also a two-year letterwinner in basketball.

PERSONAL: Born on Aug. 16, 2001... Son of Mike and Tanya Jones ... has an older sister Nikki... Majoring in business.

Jay Pabin (Georgetown, Texas/Lovejoy HS)
HIGH SCHOOL: Was the co-medalist at the 2021 Class 5A, Region II Tournament his senior year to advance to the state tournament, where he finished eighth… Was the first Lovejoy male golfer to qualify for the UIL State Tournament in 2019… Holds the school record for a single round with a 66 during regionals… In amateur play, his top AJGA finish was a tie for second at the 2020 AJGA Junior at Kingwood… Also finished fifth at the AJGA Senior Showcase and earned an invite to the Sergio and Angela Garcia Foundation Junior Championship… Also played soccer as a freshman.
 
Coach Newton on Jay:
"Jay will be a great addition to the program. He is a great student and golfer. I look forward to having him in Fort Collins soon."
