Continued Scholastic Excellence for Track and Field
NEW ORLEANS – Both gender track and field programs garnered All-Academic Team honors, while 15 student-athletes picked up individual accolades, announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Â
To qualify for the team award, the program's cumulative GPA of all student-athletes on the institution's NCAA Squad List for Indoor and/or Outdoor Track and Field must be 3.0 or higher.
Â
The women achieved a 3.36 cumulative grade point average and the men a 3.12 GPA, which is not just the spring semester or 2020-21 academic year, but the career marks for the student-athletes on the NCAA Squad list for the Rams. The CSU women have received the accolade now 14 years in a row, while the men collected their 11th award all-time.
Â
For the 11th time in the past 12 seasons, both CSU teams earned the academic achievement. Earlier this year, the women's cross country teams also grabbed the honor for the 12th straight time along with seven individuals.
Â
Overall, there were more than 1100 women and 850 men who were named All-Academic Athletes in NCAA Division I Track & Field. In order to get recognized, student-athletes had to have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher in addition to having finished the indoor season ranked in the top 96 in any championship individual event or competed in any round of the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
