Basketball Hall of Fame Classic offers fans a triple-header of action

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State ended the 2020-21 campaign in Texas for a longstanding prestigious basketball tournament, and the Rams will return a year later for a brand new event, the Basketball Hall of Fame Classic in Fort Worth.

The Rams will tip-off with Mississippi State as part of the three-game event at Dickies Arena on Dec. 11. North Texas-UMass and Stephen F. Austin-Liberty round out the triple-header field. Game times, ticket information and broadcast details will be released at a later date.

"We are excited for the opportunity to play a tough and well-coached team like Mississippi State and be part of this great event hosted by the Basketball Hall of Fame," CSU coach Niko Medved said.

The Rams are coming off a second consecutive 20-win season under Medved, finishing 20-8 after taking fourth place in the NIT. Mississippi State went 18-15, losing to Memphis in the NIT final.

The tournament is the latest to join the slate of events hosted by the Hall of Fame as it branches out to help celebrate the game beyond the museum's walls.

"We're very excited to be hosting our first collegiate showcase in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, a region several of our Hall of Famers have played in and call home," said John L. Doleva, President and CEO of the Basketball Hall of Fame. "We appreciate the hospitality Dickies Arena will provide to the fans and the six teams participating in the Hall of Fame Classic and we know it will be a fantastic event."
