Rams to play 38 teams represented in 2021 postseason in just the fall events

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State men's golf will take on its most daunting challenge in history with the 2021-22 schedule, announced today by head coach Christian Newton. This fall's competition will stack up among the best CSU has ever faced, as the squad will take on 21 Power-5 conference foes, all but one represented in the 2021 NCAA Regionals, along with defending national champion Pepperdine. In all, the Rams will play against 38 schools this fall that had at least one player in postseason action in 2021.

"Scheduling is one of the most important parts to building a program," Newton said. "I love our schedule this year. We will play all over the country against the best teams on the best courses; that's ultimately what you're trying to do. The schedule will challenge our guys greatly."

The Rams will open the 2021-22 slate at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate in Scottdale, Ariz. on Sept. 10-11 in a field that features 14 schools that were represented in the NCAA Regionals (12 teams, two individuals), including 2013 & 2014 national champion Alabama and 2011 NCAA champion Augusta. CSU then returns home to defend its title at the Ram Masters Invitational presented by Pedersen Toyota, as 16 teams, including four represented in the NCAA Regionals, will compete at Fort Collins Country Club, Sept. 20-21.

After that, CSU heads to the Peachtree State to play in the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate, Oct. 22-24. This star-studded field is led by 2021 National Champion Pepperdine and 2019 champ Stanford, as every school in the event was represented in the 2021 NCAA Regionals. CSU then wraps up the fall with a trip to California to play in the Saint Mary's Invitational, where the Rams won the title in 2019. The tournament will be a good midseason barometer for Colorado State, with five other Mountain West schools in the 19-team field that includes 15 squads that competed in postseason last year.

The spring slate starts with the The Prestige Feb. 21-23 at the PGA West's Norman Course in LaQuinta, Calif. The Rams will then return to the Lamkin Grips San Diego Classic (March 7-8), National Invitational Tournament in Arizona (March 18-19), Wyoming Cowboy Classic (April 4-5) and the Western Intercollegiate presented by Top Golf (April 11-13), scheduled once again to be televised on Golf Channel.

The regular season concludes at the Mountain West Men's Golf Championship at Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Wash., April 29-May 1, with the winner earning the league's automatic bid to one of six NCAA Regional sites, May 16-18. The year will wrap up again where it started for CSU in Scottsdale, Ariz., as the 2022 NCAA Men's Golf Championship will again be contested at Grayhawk Golf Club's Raptor Course on May 27-June 1.
