CSU Improves 10 Shots From First To Second Round at Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational

Led by junior Andrea Bergsdottir in a tie for 25th, the Rams are 16th heading into tomorrow's final round.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Led by junior Andrea Bergsdottir in a tie for 25th, Colorado State improved 10 shots from the morning to the afternoon and are currently 16th after two rounds of the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational, Sept. 13. The two-day, 54-hole tournament, hosted by University of New Mexico, is being played at UNM Championship Course (Par 72 – 6,317 yards) in Albuquerque, N.M.
 
The Rams started the day with a 21-over 309 in the morning but improved 10 shots with an 11-under 299 in the afternoon to post a 32-over 608. San Jose State is the 36-hole leader at 5-under 571, with San Diego State two shots back in second at 3-under 573. Host New Mexico is third at 1-over 577, with BYU (578) and Oregon State (579) round out the top five teams in the field.
 
Bergsdottir leads the Rams at 3-over 147, including an even-par 72 in the morning, her eighth career round of par or better. Freshman Lacey Uchida posted a 76 in the morning and improved two shots in the afternoon with a 2-over 74 to sit in a tie for 46th at 6-over 150. Sophomore Panchalika Arphamongkol improved four shots in her second round and is tied for 69th at 10-over 154, while her sister freshman Pemika Arphamongkol made a nine-shot reduction in her afternoon score, also posting a 3-over 75, and is tied for 87th at 15-over 159. Freshman Romina Villaneuva rounds out the CSU scoring players at 20-over 164, tied for 91st. Playing as an individual, sophomore Sofia Torres is tied for 56th at 7-over 151. BYU's Lila Galeai is the individual leader at 8-under 136, including an ace during her day.
 
CSU will tee off in the final round at 7:30 a.m. MT, starting on holes 15-18.
