Ozoude Captures Meet & Facility Record at Air Force Invitational

USAFA, Colo. – Three more all-time school marks and a Jessica Ozoude record highlighted the Colorado State Track and Field program Saturday in the final day of the Air Force Invitational in the Cadet Field House.

The women's sprint group displayed its strength in speed, winning the 200-meter, the 400m and placing second in the 60m. Ozoude won the 200 and crossed with a time of 23.45 – .07 off her school record – to set the meet record for the AF Invite and tied the field house record. In her rear view was sophomore Janyah Jasper who finished second in the 60 and 200. Fellow school record holder Lauren Gale took the 400 with a time of 52.98 – .22 off her school mark. Yolonda Johnson placed third in the 400 and improved her career 400 time for the second day in a row. Collectively, she shaved 1.78 seconds off her previous PR to land at 55.92 for the 10th best time in CSU History.

Earlier in the afternoon, Gabi McDonald produced the best performance of the day when she won the shot put with a throw of 53'4.5'' for fifth-best in CSU History. The Ram throwers won the women's weight throw, and women's shot put, while also finishing runner-up in the men's shot put.
Over in the jump pit, Makayla Williams made her debut on the triple jump list at 19th after measuring a 37'6.5''.

For the meet, CSU added five new marks in the CSU record book and 13 personal records.

On the meet…
"The highs on Saturday certainly fell with the women's side. Our men need to get in gear a bit or else the championship season is going to feel like it came up quick. The women sprinters really impressed today. It is great to see Jessica Ozoude back in shape and healthy. That time would be No. 2 on the all-time list if she didn't already have the record. Gale, Johnson and Jasper all followed up with strong outings. Over in the throws, Gabi had a great day in the shot put. In all, we saw some good and bad things in the two days and look to make another step forward next week."
