Four Rams sit in the top 15
BERTHOUD, Colo. – Colorado State men's golf finds itself in a familiar spot after round one of the DU TPC Colorado Invitational, atop the leaderboard. The Rams are the only team under par shooting a 3-under, 287.
The ranked duo of Connor Jones and Davis Bryant led the charge for CSU during the opening 18. Jones finished a stroke ahead of his teammate with a 2-under, 70. He made the turn with a 1-under, 35 birdieing the par five, fifth and started his back nine with back-to-back birdies. The only blip on his scorecard was a bogey on the 12th. Jones is in third place on the individual leaderboard, one-stroke out of first.
While Jones was smooth sailing throughout the day, Bryant battled back from a tough opening two holes. Three-over through two he went on to shoot, 4-under over the final 16 holes finishing with a 1-under, 71. That puts him in a tie for fourth. His turnaround started with back-to-back birdies on the fifth and sixth hole and added on two more birdies on the back nine including the 773-yard par 5 13th.
Overall, no Ram shot worse than 3-over for the day. Four are in the top 15 with Rasmus Hjelm and Jay Pabin shooting a 1-over, 73.
UNC will tee off on the first through fourth hole on a shotgun start at 9:30 am Tuesday. The event is free to attend, and live results can be found on GolfStat.
