Hofschild, Ronsiek Earn Mountain West Player of the Week Honors

Senior McKenna Hofschild was named the league’s Player of the Week and Hannah Ronsiek earned Freshman of the Week.
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – After two dominating games to open the season, outscoring BYU and Montana by a combined 48 points, Colorado State's McKenna Hofschild and Hannah Ronsiek were named the Mountain West's Players of the Week. Hofschild was named the Player of the Week, while Ronsiek earned Freshman of the Week.

This is Hofschild's fifth weekly honor of her career and Ronsiek's first.

Hofschild opened the season against BYU leading the team scoring 18 points and finished with a 9:2 assist-turnover ratio. Of her nine assists, six of them led to a three-point basket, and seven of them came in the second half when the Rams outscored the Cougars 47-23. She continued her stalwart play on Friday with a double-double against Montana, hitting another 18 points and dishing out 11 assists – holding an 11:1 assist-turnover mark. She reached her double-figure points in second quarter and her double-double by the end of the third.

Ronsiek made her collegiate debut in the season opener against BYU, scoring 10 points on 3-for-4 shooting, including going 3-for-3 from behind the arch. The freshman also pulled down five boards in 13 minutes of action. She played in another 19 minutes against Montana, adding five points and snagging a team-high four steals.

Colorado State will return to action on Tuesday, hosting Western Colorado at 6:30 p.m., in Moby Arena.
