Kennedy Stanford, Ciera Pritchard and Naeemah Weathers make Mountain West All-Conference team
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Mountain West Conference announced Wednesday three Rams, Kennedy Stanford, Ciera Pritchard and Naeemah Weathers, a part of the 2022 Mountain West All-Conference Team. The honor comes as the third All-Conference award for Pritchard, second for Stanford and first for Weathers.
Â
Stanford is a two-time weekly award winner for the Rams, being named the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week twice this season. The outside hitter has become the evident leader of the Rams offense, as she sits atop of the team in kills with 341 and points averaging 3.72 per set. Within the conference, she sits ninth in kills per set and seventh among outside hitters. She also adds 54 total blocks and 122 digs as a six-rotation player and one of only two rams to play in all 67 sets this season. This is Stanford's second All-Conference honor after she was named to the team last year as well.
Â
Pritchard sits third in the Mountain West in total assists with 1008, the senior's second consecutive 1000+ assists season. She is one of three setters honored on the All-Conference team as the setter also boasts a team high 33 service aces on the season, placing her just outside the top ten in the conference. Averaging 9.51 assists per set, Pritchard has started all 29 matches this season for Head Coach Tom Hilbert. Pritchard has been named to the All-Conference team in each of the last three seasons.
Â
Weathers entered the scene as a player looking to step up in place of an early season injury for the Rams and has molded into one of the most consistent hitters for not only Colorado State, but the conference as a whole. The junior middle blocker is ranked fourth in the Mountain West in hitting percentage with a .377 efficiency. As a team, the Rams sit at the top of the conference in hitting percentage with a .270 average. On defense, Weathers boasts the second highest block number on the team with 67 total on the season. This is Weathers' first All-Conference selection.
Â
The Rams will compete in the Mountain West Tournament hosted in Fort Collins from Wednesday through Friday at Moby Arena. They will face San Diego State in the opening round Wednesday at 4 p.m. and the full bracket can be found at CSURams.com.
