Hofschild Named Mountain West Player of the Week

The senior averaged 29 points last week on her way to her second award of the season
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – After leading Colorado State and the Mountain West in scoring last week with 29 points per game, McKenna Hofschild was named the Mountain West Player of the Week. The senior earned her second weekly award of the season and sixth of her career.

The guard started the week leading Colorado State back from a late 11-point deficit at Northern Colorado, to force triple overtime. She finished with 27 points against the Bears, including dishing out seven assists. She continued her offensive production on Saturday against Western Michigan, scoring a season-high 31 points – just two shy from a career high. She was a perfect 3-for-3 from behind the arc against the Broncos, finishing 10-of-13 from the floor. She was close to her second double-double of the season with nine assists. For the week, she totaled 16 assists and 63 percent shooting, including 67 percent from long range.

Hofschild leads the Mountain West in scoring, averaging 19.8 points a game, which is also No. 32 in the country. She also paces the league and ranks among the nation in assist/turnover ratio at 5.82 (No. 3), assists with 64 (No. 3) and assist per game with 8.0 (No. 2).
