Â
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. // AMES, Iowa – Two school records at two different locations highlighted Friday's action for the Colorado State track and field program at the Iowa State Classic and the Don Kirby Invitational.
Â
The long-distance Rams went to sea-level and ran like the wind at Iowa State's Lied Recreation Athletic Facility, while the rest of the Rams traveled to New Mexico's Albuquerque Convention Center where they saw similar results on the 200-meter, 60-degree banked track.
Â
Both CSU records came on the women's side and one from each meet. In the 5,000-meter race at the ISC, Lily Tomasula-Martin finished with a time of 16:05.91 to shatter the previous record by over 16 seconds. What was even more impressive was that Annabel Stafford and Ashlyn Hillyard notched the next two best times in school history.
Â
Later in the day at Don Kirby, Lauren Gale continued her impressive season by snatched the 200m record with a 23.08 time, which also set the Canadian record for the Ottawa, Ontario native. The previous record was 23.38 by teammate Jessica Ozoude who ran improved Friday to 23.22, but now resides in second all-time.
Â
Back in Iowa, Lauren Offerman was .03 seconds away from tying the 3K school mark after she crossed at 9:26.96. It marks her second No. 2 school mark that is less than a second away from the record, joining the outdoor 5K. Emily Chaston and Claudia Burgess also clocked top-10 school times in the race.
Â
The men's side was also taking advantage of the low elevation in Ames as five of the six runners ended up on the all-time school list. Finishing second in the 5K, Tanner Norman crossed with a time of 13:55.73 – good for 4th in CSU History.
Â
Cameron Ross in the 800 at Don Kirby placed second with a time of 1:50.05 that is second in the Mountain West this season and fourth all-time in CSU History. The 200m men also made some noise Tom Willems and Kelley Stephens each gaining personal records that put them into the school's top 5.
Â
In all, the Rams collected 23 school marks with an additional four personal records.

Coach's Corner
Head Coach Brian Bedard
On Friday's action…
"Today was a big day for the Ram track and field program. We had highlights all over from the long distance squad out in Iowa to the sprint group here in Albuquerque. We gained two more school records and countless other top marks, including some high up in the NCAA performance list. We need to build off the success today for another packed day of action tomorrow."
Â
Assistant Coach Art Siemers
On Day One…
"The ladies in the 5K wanted the best time in school history and they delivered. Lauren [Offerman] was so close yet again, but still so encouraging to see her continue to run well. Tanner [Norman] is getting more and more confidence and this was his first real track race as a Ram. He ran phenomenal and barely got outkicked down the stretch. What can I say about Lily [Tomasula-Martin]. She is special. She has transformed our program and wasn't easy as she has worked her tail off her entire career to get to where she is at now in running, but also building a culture around her for the other ladies."
