The Rams are competing in one of the top event fields in the nation this season, as nine teams are ranked in the top 30

TUCSON, Ariz. – Taking on one of the top national fields this year, Colorado State is in 14th after the first two rounds of the National Invitational Tournament Friday. The two-day, 54-hole tournament, hosted by the University of Arizona, was played at Omni Tucson National Resort's Catalina Course (Par 72 – 7,200 yards) in Tucson, Ariz.
 
Against a field where all 15 teams are ranked in the top 115 nationally according to Golfstat, including nine in the top 30, the Rams, battling a stomach issue with several in the lineup, shot a 4-over 292 in the morning round and then improved with a 1-over 289 in the afternoon to sit at 5-over 581. No. 2 Oklahoma State is the 36-hole leader at 41-under 535, 21 shots ahead of host No. 30 Arizona. No. 1 Oklahoma is in third at 18-under 558, followed by No. 28 New Mexico in fourth at 17-under 559. No. 12 Texas and No. 9 Pepperdine round out the top five teams in a tie for fifth at 16-under 560.
 
The Rams are led by freshman Christoph Bleier, who is tied for 24th at 3-under 141. Bleier shot a 1-under 71 in the early 18 and then posted a 2-under 70 in the second round. Junior Connor Jones is next at 2-over 146 in a tie for 61st. Senior Davis Bryant and sophomore Rasmus Hjelm are tied for 66th at 3-over 147, while freshman Jay Pabin is tied for 80th at 7-over 151. Eugenio Lopez-Chacarra, ranked No. 11 in the nation, is the individual leader at 12-under 132, one shot ahead of a trio of golfers at 11-under 133. In all, the top nine golfers are all ranked in the top 100 nationally, with 23 total in the 88-player field.
 
CSU will play its third and final round with San Diego and UNLV on Saturday, going off No. 10 in tee times starting at 9 a.m. MT.
