Colorado State Signs Veteran Guard From Denver

FORT COLLINS, Colo.  – Experience at the guard position is en route to the Colorado State women's basketball program with the signing of Meghan Boyd, a transfer from Denver.

"Megan is an outstanding basketball player who has a great passion for the game," CSU head coach Ryun Williams said. "Her size and versatile skill set at the guard spot and her ability to score at multiple levels will be a great addition to our team."

The 5-foot-11 guard started 21 of 30 games played this past season at DU, averaging 30.3 minutes per contest in her third season with the Pioneers. Her 11.1 points per game clip was second on the team and 18th in the Summit League. She tallied 16 double-digit scoring games with a season-high 27 against Oral Roberts. However, her two best performances came in her sophomore season, dropping a career-best 31 versus Omaha and 29 points in an 85-84 upset of Colorado on Dec. 8, 2020.

In her career, the Eagle, Id. native sports a 33.9% field goal percentage and a 31.6% 3-point field goal percentage with a slight majority of her field goals coming from distance (56.6% of all FGM). Among her scoring ability is her precision from the free-throw line where she connected on 91.7% from the free-throw line in 2021-22 and holds an 89.9% career clip.

Boyd was serviceable in other areas on the floor in 2021-22 as she tallied 58 assists and 91 rebounds, which ranked third and fourth on the team, respectively. Each of the past two seasons, she has eclipsed 20 steals.

After a respectable 17.9 mpg in her freshman season, Boyd had a breakout sophomore campaign and was named All-Summit League Honorable Mention. She started 20 of 23 games and led DU in scoring with 15.3 ppg to go along with a team-high 3.1 assists per game. She reached double digits 18 times and scored more than 20 seven times including the one 31-point game. She shot 34.9% overall with the league's third-best mark from distance at 33.3% to go along with 102 rebounds – second on the team. From the free-throw line, she shot 89% to top the league and rank seventh in the NCAA.

Boyd attended Eagle High School, located in the suburbs of Boise, Id. and was named the state tournament MVP in her senior season for the school's first-ever state title – the 2019 IDHSAA 5A State Championship. She was named 5A SIC First Team All-Conference and 5A First Team All-Idaho after averaging 16.5 ppg, 4.7 rpg and 2.5 apg in EHS' 22-5 season.

The combo guard averaged a solid 8.5 points, 2.8 assists and 2.2 rebounds per game during her junior season. She was named a 5A SIC All-Conference honorable mention team member as well as being named to the First Team All-State Tournament while playing for the 22nd-ranked high school team in the nation.
