The Rams post two under-par rounds as a team and move up a spot in the afternoon against a field that features 14 of the 16 teams in Golfstat's top 125

CHULA VISTA, Calif. – Colorado State put together two solid rounds and is currently sixth after 36 holes of the Lamkin Grips San Diego Classic March 7. The two-day, 54-hole tournament, co-hosted by San Diego State University and the University of San Diego, is being played at San Diego Country Club (Par 72 – 7,003 yards) in Chula Vista, Calif.
 
IN a field that features 14 of the 16 teams ranked in the top 125 according to Golfstat, the Rams came out in the first round and shot a 2-under 286 to sit in a tie for seventh with three other squads. Then CSU was one of a few teams to improve on the second round and shot a 4-under 284 in the afternoon and is at 6-under 570 in sixth. LSU is the leader at 36-under 540, 15 shots ahead of No. 15 Notre Dame at 21-under 555. San Diego is third at 16-under 560, with No. 8 Washington in fourth at 11-under 565. No. 45 Nevada rounds out the top five teams at 9-under 567, as 10 teams in the 16-team field are under par through 36 holes.
 
The Rams are led by junior Connor Jones at 5-under 67, having shot even-par 72 in the morning and posting a 5-under 67 in the afternoon, a round that had six birdies to just one bogey. Sophomore Rasmus Hjelm is next in a tie for 33rd at 1-under 143, with freshman Christoph Bleier two shots back at 1-over 145 in a tie for 44th. Senior Davis Bryant is at 2-over 146 in a tie for 52nd, while senior Oscar Teiffel is tied for 81st at 6-over 150. LSU's Nicholas Arcement is the individual leader at 11-under 133, three shots ahead of a trio of golfers at 8-under 136.
 
Tuesday's final round will be an 8:30 a.m. PT shotgun start, with the Rams going off holes 4-7 and playing with Nevada, BYU and California.
