Roddy Earns Mountain Player of the Year From League Coaches, Stevens On Second Team

The junior forward was a consensus selection from the league's media and coaches in separate polls after leading CSU to a 24-4 regular season mark and the No. 2 seed in the Air Force Reserve Mountain West Championship
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State junior forward David Roddy was named the Mountain West Player of the Year by the league's coaches, announced today by the Mountain West. Joining Roddy, who was also named to the first team, was junior guard Isaiah Stevens, who was honored on the second team for the second season in a row by both this group as well as the league media yesterday.
Just the third conference player of the year pick in CSU history joining Gian Clavell (2017-MW) and Mike Mitchell (1990-WAC), Roddy earned the consensus honors from both the media and the coaches' separate selections. Also a finalist for the Wooden and Malone awards, the Minneapolis, Minn., native finished third in the league in conference scoring at 19.5 points per game, sixth in rebounding at 7.6 and first in field goal percentage at 57.5 percent. He was also 13th with 2.8 assists per game, eighth in blocks at 1.1 and 17th in minutes at 32.4 per contest. He became the 31st player in CSU history to reach 1,000 career points and is currently 10th with 1,358 points. He has seven double-doubles on the year and was named the USVI Paradise Jam MVP after averaging 31.0 points per game in leading CSU to the title with wins over Bradley, Creighton and Northeastern. During that tournament he had two 30+ point games, including a career-high 36 against Creighton.
In league play, he was sixth in scoring at 19.06 points per game, fifth in rebounding at 7.61, first in field goal percentage at 56.6 percent from the floor and 12th with 3.06 assists per contest. He had a high of 31 points on 10-of-14 shooting from the field along with nine rebounds and three steals in the win at New Mexico in his first game in The Pit. He scored in double figures in 17 of 18 league games, including nine of 20 or more. Most recently, he had a game-high 23 points, four rebounds and two assists in a home win over league champion Boise State to sweep the season series with the Broncos.
Stevens was among the most notable players in the league again, ranking 12th in scoring at 14.8, tops in free throw percentage at 90.0, third in assists at 4.9, second in assist-to-turnover ratio at 3.0 and sixth in minutes with 34.6 per game. He reached the 1,000-point mark in his career during the season and is currently in 13th with 1,266 points. He ranks second all-time in assists with 434 and an average of 4.9 per game in his career. He earned All-Tournament Honors at the USVI Paradise Jam after helping guide CSU to the tournament title. With is 3.51 in communication studies, Stevens was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team Feb. 17 and will be on the ballot for Academic All-American.
In Mountain West action, the guard from Allen, Texas is 12th in scoring at 15.11 points per game, eighth in assists with 3.61, tops in free throw percentage at 91.8 percent, fifth in assist-to-turnover ratio at 2.10 and eighth in minutes played. He also scored in double figures in 17 contests with a career-high 35 points and eight rebounds at home against UNLV.
The duo were the leaders for a CSU squad that recorded 24 wins in the regular season, tied for the third most in a single season, while the 14 conference wins ties the school record set by last year's team.
