Tom Willems and Lexie Keller Grab Conference Weekly Honors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Senior Lexie Keller and junior Tom Willems put together performances at separate meets last week, which garnered Mountain West Track and Field Athlete of the Week honors for their respective areas, announced by the league office Tuesday.

Keller, the women's field recipient, captured the Colorado State women's heptathlon record in her win of the event at the Jim Click Shootout in Tucson, Ariz., with a score of 5803 points. The total registered No. 2 in Mountain West history, No. 3 in the NCAA this season and the top mark in the NCAA West Region. Within the seven-event multi, Keller notched a personal record in each stop, including top-20 school marks in the long jump, high jump and 100-meter hurdles.

On the men's side, Willems collected the men's track award after competing at the Colorado Invitational. Willems won the 400 after crossing at 46.52 for a .15-second improvement of his PR but he stays fourth all-time in CSU history. The time ranks 33rd in the NCAA West and third in the conference.

Both weekly nods are the first outdoor ones for Willems and Keller, however it is the second all-time conference weekly award for Keller who has an indoor honor earlier this year.

The Rams compete in three meets this week but highlighting the bunch will be the home meet – the Doug Max Invitational on Saturday, April 16th at the Jack Christiansen Track.
