Buzkova the fifth CSU player to make it in doubles and singles in the same season

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – For the fourth consecutive season, Colorado State has full representation on the All-Mountain West women's tennis team.

The conference announced the selection of 16 singles player and eight doubles teams on the eve of the conference tournament, with the Rams' Radka Buzkova named as both a singles and doubles player, joined by her partner, Matea Mihaljevic; Somer Dalla-Bona was named to the team as a singles player. Voting was conducted by coaches this week.

Buzkova becomes just the fifth Ram named All-Mountain West at both positions in the same season, joining Anne Anderson (2006), Hilary Tyler (2008), Stella Cliffe (2019) and Priscilla Palermo (2021). This is just the second time in program history two singles players were named all-conference, and it marks the fourth consecutive season a CSU doubles tandem was named to the team.

Buzkova, a junior, and Mihaljevic, a graduate student, have posted a 24-9 record on the season and came together quickly. They became the first CSU players to not only qualify for an ITA Regional final but became the program's first champions (by beating teammates Dalla-Bona and Sarka Richterova), to qualify for the ITA Fall Nationals. The 24 wins by the players have established a single-season record for doubles wins by a player.

In singles, Buzkova has posted a 7-1 record in conference play, 24-5 on the season, her 82.7 winning percentage currently ranking her second all-time. She is on a seven-match win streak, going 5-1 at the No. 1 spot, 6-0 at No. 2 in the dual season. Her 24 wins ranks fourth in a single season in program history.

Dalla-Bona, a graduate student, has posted a 20-11 record in singles play, going 6-2 in conference play, one of her losses to nationally ranked Bunyawi Thamchaiwat of San Diego State. All of her conference matches have been played in the top two spots, going 5-0 at No. 2. She has won three consecutive matches, and her 20 victories leaves her one shy of cracking the program's top 10 in a single campaign.

Junior Pang Jittakoat of Fresno State was named the Player of the Year, with Nevada's Mariana Campino the Freshman of the Year. Coach of the Year will be named after the conference tournament.

Colorado State continues the season Thursday at the Mountain West Championships, held at El Conquistador Tucson in Tucson, Ariz. As the No. 2 seed, the Rams received a first-round by and are awaiting the winner of the No. 7  Boise State-No. 10 San Jose State match for their opponent in Thursday's quarterfinals, starting at 3 p.m. MT.
