Andrew Doctor, Lauren Gale and Tarynn Sieg (Bown) Grab Conference Weekly Honors
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Of the six weekly conference honors that the Mountain West puts out, the Colorado State track and field program garnered half of them, announced by the league office Wednesday.
Â
Andrew Doctor and Lauren Gale were named the track athletes of the week for the men and women's side, respectively, while Tarynn Sieg (Bown) earned the women's field accolade. All the performances occurred this past weekend in CSU's final home meet – the Jack Christiansen Invitational.
Â
Doctor, a senior from Colorado Springs, won the newly named Fritz Fulton Memorial men's 110-meter hurdle race within the Jack Christiansen Invite with a time of 13.96, which moved him up from ninth to third all-time in CSU history. The time ranks atop of the conference and 31st in the NCAA West this season. The award is Doctor's first weekly honor in his career.
Â
Gale, a senior from Ottawa, Ontario, swept the 200 and 400 races, registering season-best times in both. In the 200, she crossed the finish line at 23.07 for the league's top time and the 13th-best time in the NCAA West. If it wasn't for wind, it would of gone down as a school remark. Prior to that in the 400, she crossed at 52.49 to better her MW lead in the event and up to 14th in the NCAA West region.
Â
Sieg (Bown), a senior from Eaton, Colo., won the women's hammer throw with a season-best measure of 201'10''. The throw was just three inches off her personal record that sits sixth all-time at CSU. On the performance lists, the performance is No. 3 in the MW and No. 21 in the NCAA West.
Â
The weekly nods are the second and third all-time for Sieg (Bown) and Gale, respectively, while it is Doctor's first-ever weekly accolade.
Â
The Rams conclude their regular season at the Fresno Invitational this weekend, starting Friday, April 29th and finishing Saturday, April 30th. Â
