FORT COLLINS, Colo. – More experience at the guard position is coming to the Colorado State women's basketball program with the signing of Destiny Thurman, a transfer from UTEP.
Â
"Destiny will be a fun and impactful addition to our program," CSU head coach Ryun Williams said. "She is a young lady that loves to compete and has proven herself at a very high level. She has the ability to excel at both guard positions, and I really like how she thinks the game."

Â
Prior to UTEP, Thurman was a two-time National Junior College All-American at Collin County Community College (Texas). In just two seasons with the Cougars, Thurman eclipsed 1,000 points and was named North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference's Player of the Year in addition to All-Conference First Team and NJCAA Region V All-Region Team as a sophomore.
Â
Thurman was a four-year letter winner at Lamar High School where she was a 2018 McDonald's All-America nominee. The guard was a three-time All-Region player and First Team All-District honoree. Â She averaged 12.8 points per game during her career, including a blistering 19.9 ppg as a senior.
Â
The addition of Thurman brings CSU's total of newcomers for 2022-23 to seven with the three freshmen (Marta Leimane, Hannah Ronsiek, and Jayden Fife) and transfers Meghan Boyd, Kiya Dorroh, and Joseana Vaz. Thurman will have one years left of eligibility with the Rams.
