Colorado State Adds Another Power Five Transfer

FORT COLLINS, Colo.  – Colorado State has signed 5-foot-9 guard Cailyn Crocker from University of California, Berkeley to a National Letter of Intent, head coach Ryun Williams announced Tuesday.

"We are thrilled to be able to sign a leader like Cailyn," Williams said. "She is a very talented basketball player who plays the game with great enthusiasm and toughness. Her high-level skillset combined with Pac 12 experience will no doubt have a positive impact on our roster. It also excites us that Cailyn was a previous captain at Cal, showing leadership qualities that will be beneficial to our program."

Crocker played in 22 games this past season at Cal, starting 12 and averaging 24.6 minutes per game in her junior year with the Bears. During her final season at Cal, she averaged 6.5 points and 2.4 rebounds per game, while dishing out 1.9 assists per contest. She was third on the team in assists at 41 and third in steals with 30, with a career-high four steals at Oregon State on Feb. 20. Crocker shot 29.7 percent from the field and a 28.6 percent clip from 3-point range. She finished the season scoring double figures in seven games, including one 20-point performance.

As a sophomore, she did not see any action out on the court due to an injury. Her collegiate debut was as a freshman against Harvard on Nov. 8, 2019, finishing with 10 points and six rebounds in 26 minutes of action. She appeared in 31 games her first season and started six for the Bears. She played 635 minutes, averaging 20.5 minutes and 7.5 points per game. Crocker finished nine games in double figures scoring-wise with seven against Pac-12 opponents. She dropped a career-best 26 points and five assists in Cal's win over Utah. At the free-throw line, she displayed an 84.3% (59-70) clip, which ranks seventh all-time in program history.

Coming out of high school, Dan Olsen of ESPNW Hoopsgurlz said about Crocker, "Athletic off-guard with a scorer's mentality in the back court; handles, pressures the defense and attacks in up-tempo game; rises on jumper with range to the arc." Crocker was a four-star recruit and ranked as the 15th-best guard according to ProspectsNation when she signed with Cal in 2018.

Crocker concluded her high school career at Mater Dei HS in Santa Ana, Calif., helping the Lady Monarchs go 48-11 record in her two years including two Trinity League titles in 2018 and 2019 with adjoining trips to the state tournament. Prior to that, she attended Los Alamitos High School, located in between Long Beach and Anaheim, where she earned 2017 All-CIF Southern Section honors.

She was invited to tryouts for both the Under-16 and Under-17 USA Basketball National Team Trials and played club ball for West Coast Premier. Her older brother Camryn played basketball at the University of Pennsylvania.

The addition of Crocker brings CSU's total of newcomers for 2022-23 eight with the three freshmen (Marta Leimane, Hannah Ronsiek, and Jayden Fife) and transfers Meghan Boyd, Kiya Dorroh, Joseana Vaz and Destiny Thurman. Crocker will have two years left of eligibility with the Rams.
