Rams Conclude Action at West Regionals
5/28/2022 8:19:00 PM | Track & Field
NCAA West Regionals close with no additional Rams advancing to Nationals
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Despite a few possible contending seeds entering the final women's day at the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds, the results did not swing in Colorado State's favor as no additional Rams will be headed to the NCAA Championships.
Â
However, CSU's first event – the 4x100-meter relay – did not forecast that narrative since the foursome finished two spots away from qualifying in 14th place. The impending downfall was one of the members, Lauren Gale, coming down with an illness. She essentially dropped out of the 400 quarterfinals, stopping after the starting gun. Thus, meaning she also did not participate in the 4x4 to close the meet. Â
The rest of the Rams came close to marks obtained during season but not in the qualifying range to advance.
Â
After conclusion of the regionals, three Rams will continue their season onto nationals. Lexie Keller was already qualified for the women's heptathlon, while Jacob Brueckman and Jackson Morris secured their tickets this week. Morris will compete in the discus and javelin, while Brueckman will be running in the 1500.
Â
The NCAA Championships will be held on the campus of Oregon in Eugene, Ore., from June 8th-11th at Hayward Field.
