Stevens Tabbed Preseason Mountain West Player of the Year

CSU men’s basketball picked to finish fifth
LAS VEGAS – Isaiah Stevens has left his mark and legacy on the Colorado State men's basketball program. He added to it on Thursday being named the Mountain West's Preseason Player of the Year for the 2023-24 season. Stevens is the first Ram ever to earn the honor.
The Allen, Texas product enters his fifth and final season in Fort Collins as the program's career leader in assists with many more records, including career scoring, within his sight.
Stevens averaged 17.9 points, 6.7 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game last season for CSU, leading the team in scoring and assists. With his high usage rate, Stevens shot the ball well going 46.7% from the floor and making 37.8% of his 3-point attempts while having an assist-to-turnover ratio of 3.07.
His playmaking abilities had him lead the Mountain West in assists per game and third in scoring. He ranked fourth in the nation with 6.7 assists per game and sixth for assist-to-turnover ratio placing him sixth nationally.
Stevens is the only player in Mountain West history to earn a spot on the postseason All-Conference team four times. He enters the 2023-24 season 12 assists shy of the conference record for career assists.
The Preseason Player of the Year honor also earned him a spot on the Preseason All-Conference team.
Along with the release of the Mountain West Preseason All-Conference team and awards, the media poll came out as well. CSU was tabbed to finish fifth in the conference this upcoming season. Last year's national title runners-up San Diego State was picked to win the league with Boise State, New Mexico and Nevada rounding out the top 5 in order.
Fans can get a first look at the 2023-24 Rams on Saturday, October 14 when CSU hosts its Homecoming Scrimmage at 3:30 pm for free.
Colorado State's 2023-24 season begins on November 6 when the Rams welcome Louisiana Tech to Moby Arena for an 8 pm tip-off. The game is part of an opening night doubleheader with women's basketball. The Mountain West season starts on January 2 against New Mexico inside Moby Arena with the 2024 Mountain West Tournament slated for March 13-16 at Thomas and Mack Arena in Las Vegas.
