The redshirt led the Rams to a 41-20 win over Utah Tech throwing for a freshman record 462 yards
FORT COLLINS – After a recorded setting performance Saturday night against Utah Tech, redshirt freshman Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi was named the Freshman of the Week by the Mountain West.
Â
Fowler-Nicolosi completed 26-of-32 passes for 462 yards and four touchdowns. His 462 passing yards was the third most in a single game in Colorado State history and set the freshman passing record for the Rams.
Â
He started the game against the Trailblazers completing his first eight passes, which included a pair of touchdowns to Tory Horton. He was effective all game, never having back-to-back incompletions, while also finishing the game completing his last eight throws – which also included two more touchdowns.
Â
BF-N added a rushing touchdown – his first of his career – in the second quarter and finished with 27 yards on the ground to total 489 yards in the victory.
Â
Since making his first start of the season at Colorado, the redshirt has thrown for over 300 yards in three consecutive games. A feat that hasn't been done since Nick Stevens did so in 2017.
Â
The redshirt leads the Mountain West in total offense with over 345 yards/game – more than 70 yards than the next. He also is the only QB in the league with a 400-yard passing performance, which came on Saturday.
Â
Colorado State will head to Utah State on Saturday for its first Mountain West road trip. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. and will be streamed on the Mountain West Network.
