Rams Ride the Tide at Hurricane Invite

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Like the tides along South Beach, Colorado State women's golf had its highs and lows Monday during the opening 36 holes of the Hurricane Invite hosted by Miami. As the waves settled for the day, Colorado State found itself with a pair of golfers inside the top 20 and the team sitting in ninth place at Biltmore Golf Course.
Lacey Uchida and Pemika Arphamongkol are tied for 20th at 1-under, 143, for the tournament. Uchida started her day with a 2-under, 70 in the opening round and followed it up with a 1-over, 73 in the afternoon. The Hawaiian had four birdies during the first 18 with the lone blemish being a double bogey. She added three more birdies during the second round.
Competing as an individual in the tournament, Arphamongkol fired off rounds of 71, and 72 Monday. She started the tournament with seven straight pars and ended up with a pair of birdies during round one. In the afternoon, Arphamonkol doubled her birdie output with four.
The best round of the day for the Rams belonged to graduate student Andrea Bergsdottir. After a morning 4-over, 76, she regrouped and shot a 3-under, 69. Opening her second round with a bogey on the second hole, she stayed the course finishing with four birdies and 12 pars over the final 16 holes. Bergsdottir is tied for 31st entering Tuesday's final round.
Colorado State is a stroke behind Colorado for eighth place and 12 strokes outside the top 5. Host Miami leads the tournament at 20-under. CSU, CU and College of Charleston are paired together for the final round on holes 9-11 for the 6:30 am MT shotgun start. Live results of the round can be found on GolfStat.com.
