The incredible debut season as a Ram continues for Dallin Holker.
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The next step in the process for Colorado State tight end Dallin Holker happened on Tuesday as he was named a finalist for the 2023 John Mackey Award, the Friends of John Mackey and the National College Football Awards Association announced on Tuesday.
Â
The award, which goes to the nation's top tight end and was awarded to former Colorado State tight end Trey McBride in 2021, narrowed their list down from nine semifinalists to three finalists including Holker. As he did during the semifinalist stage, he is the lone representative from a Group of 5 conference and leads all of the nation's tight ends in nearly every statistical category.
Â
Holker's 64 receptions and 767 receiving yards are the most by any tight end this year and rank No. 40 and No. 69, respectively, among all pass catchers. His 10 contested catches, as graded by Pro Football Focus, are the most by any tight end, and his six touchdown receptions rank third among tight ends.
Â
Holker's 379 yards after the catch are the third-most among tight ends, and he's converting more catches for first downs than any tight end in the nation with a nation's best 38. Not content to just be a receiving threat, Holker is also one of the best pass blockers in the country, an invaluable asset in an offense that throws the football as much as anyone. Holker's 77.1 grade is the sixth-best mark in the country by PFF.
Â
Within the program's single-season record book, Holker concluded his junior season among the very best. His six touchdown receptions tied for the most in a single season by a CSU tight end, and his receptions and receiving yards rank No. 3 and No. 2, respectively.
Holker's fellow finalist include Georgia's Brock Bowers - the 2022 award winner - and Ohio State's Cade Stover.
Â
The 2023 John Mackey Award will be presented during the Home Depot College Awards Show on December 8. He joins McBride as the only other tight end in program history to have been named a finalist for the award.
