The FWAA Team is Kamara’s first All-American recognition of his career.
Â
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The 2023 Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year can add another title to his resume, All-American, as Mohamed Kamara was joined by Dallin Holker on the Football Writer's Association of America (FWAA) All-America team on Monday.
The Associated Press also released their team concurrently and tabbed Holker their second team tight end.
Â
For Kamara, it's his first All-American honor of his career following a stellar 2023 season. The Newark, N.J., native led the league in sacks (13.0) and tackles for loss (17.0) and ranked among the nation's best in both categories. He is the first Colorado State defensive player to be named to the FWAA's All-America team since Greg Myers (1994) and just the third all-time. Defensive lineman Mike Bell was also named to the squad in 1978.
Â
His 13.0 sacks were the third-most in a single season in program history while his 17.0 TFLs ranked No. 8. For a career, Kamara left his mark on the program by finishing second in career sacks (30.5) and third in career tackles for loss (45.5).
Â
Holker, who's All-American ledger this off-season has been significant, added two more All-American teams to his resume by earning second team honors from the FWAA as well as the Associated Press. Holker joins Trey McBride (2021) and Keli McGregor (1984) as the only Colorado State tight ends recognized by the AP.
Â
The FWAA and AP teams are two one of the five official NCAA selectors for the NCAA All-America team, and the final two –  AFCA (Dec. 12), and the Sporting News (Dec. 13) – will also announce this week.
