Five Rams Awarded Mountain West Weekly Accolades

Colorado State’s women’s and men’s track and field teams stand out after week one
FORT COLLINS – The Colorado State track and field team competed in the Mines Alumni Classic last weekend with five Rams earning Mountain West Weekly Awards. Mya Lesnar, Kajsa Borrman, Tyler Colwell, Ismael Dembele and Kyle Bigley represent the Rams with their performances.

Junior Mya Lesnar was awarded Women's Field Athlete of the Week following her school record-breaking performance in shot put and a first-place finish in weight throw with a mark of 21.11m. Lesnar broke the previous record of 17.55m with a mark of 18.50m, moving her to the No. 1 position in Colorado State's top 20. With this accomplishment, Lesnar currently leads the nation in women's indoor shot put.

Redshirt freshman Kajsa Borrman was named Women's Freshman of the Week with her first collegiate performance in women's shot put and weight throw. Borrman placed seventh overall in shot put with a mark of 13.41m and fifth in weight throw with a distance of 18.01m.

Men's Track Athlete of the Week was awarded to sophomore Tyler Colwell after he tied the school record for the men's 60-meter dash with a time of 6.63 seconds. Before competing, Colwell sat at eighth in Colorado State's top 20 with a time of 6.78.

Sophomore Ismael Dembele was recognized as the Men's Field Athlete of the Week with his second-place podium finish in long jump. He finished the weekend with a distance of 7.37 meters. Dembele now occupies the fifth position for the men's indoor long jump at Colorado State.

Kyle Bigley was named Men's Freshman of the Week after placing first in shot put and sixth in weight throw. Bigley makes a top 20 appearance at No. 5 for men's indoor shot put after his stellar performance.

The Rams will be back to compete this weekend in two different meets in Colorado Springs. The Air Force Holiday Open will take place Friday, December 8th and the UCCS Pre-Holiday Invite and Multi December 8-9th.
