For the fourth consecutive full season, the Rams have a freshman All-American.
Â
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – For the fourth consecutive full season, Colorado State Football has produced a freshman All-American as defensive lineman Nuer Gatkuoth was recognized for his play this season by The Athletic.
Â
Gatkuoth started 10 games this season for Colorado State as a defensive end and did it all from his spot, racking up 53 tackles including 6.5 for loss, an interception, forcing one fumble, and breaking up two more passes.
Â
Pro Football Focus credited Gatkuoth with 29 total quarterback pressures and 21 hurries to go along with seven hits. The outlet's True Pass Set metric credited Gatkuoth with 15 total pressures, the best among Mountain West freshman. Â
Â
Gatkuoth is the fifth Ram over the past four full seasons – excluding the four-game 2020 season – to earn freshman All-America honors joining Dante Wright (2019), Jack Howell (2021), Clay Millen (2022), and Grady Kelly (2022). He is the first defensive end to earn freshman All-America recognition since Nordly Capi in 2011.
