Hammon Inducted into Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame

The former Stalwart Ram played women’s basketball from 1995-99
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – A Stalwart Ram through and through. Former women's basketball player Becky Hammon is one-of-6 NBA legends that will be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame's class of 2023.

Hammon wore the Green and Gold from 1995-99, where she was a three-time All-American and three-time WAC Player of the Year. Hammon still holds the school career record for points, points per game, field goals, 3-pointers, steals and numerous other categories. She led her team to three NCAA tournament appearances in 1996, 1998, and in 1999 when the Rams made it to the Sweet 16. She led the Rams to WAC Mountain Division Championships in 1998 and 1999 along with a WAC Championship in 1996.

After graduation, she played for the New York Liberty (1999-2006), where she led the WNBA in scoring in 2003 and was inducted into the New York Liberty's Ring of Honor in 2015. She finished her WNBA career with the San Antonio Silver Stars where her No. 25 jersey is also retired. She is a six-time WNBA All-Star (2003, 05, 06, 07, 09, 11) and became the seventh player in WBCA history to score 5,000 points.

Following her playing career, she began her coaching career as an assistant coach for the Spurs in 2014 and was the first full-time, paid female coach on an NBA coaching staff. She coached with legendary coach Gregg Popovich for nine years before becoming the head coach of the Las Vegas Aces in 2022. In her first year in Las Vegas, she won the WNBA Title to become the first rookie head coach to do so.

Hammon was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2022.

Hammon is joined by NBA company Tony Parker, Pau Gasol, Gregg Popovich, Dirk Nowitzki and Dwayne Wade as the six members to be enshrined into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame class of 2023.

The class will be enshrined on Aug. 12 in Springfield, Mass.
