Colorado State sits in fifth place after round one of the Western
SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - Colorado State and 13 other golf teams teed off in the 76th Western Intercollegiate on Monday on Pasatiempo Golf Club. The Rams battled some highs and lows throughout the round to end up tied for fifth when the dust settled.
In the six play count five players format, CSU shot a 2-over 352 to be tied with No. 43 ranked BYU. The 23rd ranked Rams were paced on the day by Davis Bryant.
The veteran was not detoured by an opening bogey going on to finish the round with four birdies on his way to a 3-under 67. The strong opening round places him tied for 9th in the ultra-competitive field.
One other Ram finished the day at even par or better in Christoph Bleier. The sophomore shot par on the day with a 70. He recorded both three birdies and bogeys on the day.
As one of the first teams off the tee Monday, CSU held the lead as they made the turn, but settled into the tie for fifth by the end of the day trailing No. 9 Pepperdine for fourth by seven strokes.
