Three Colorado State women’s golfers finish under par for the day
RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. – Colorado State women's golf posted the program's lowest round ever in a Mountain West Championship round Wednesday. The Rams fired off a 4-under, 284 to clear the previous record by six strokes. Three golfers ended their day under par in Lacey Uchida, Andrea Bergsdottir and Sofia Torres. The round propelled CSU into third place.
Uchida had a career round turning in a scorecard of 5-under, 67. The sophomore tore up the course during the middle portion of her round with six birdies over holes 6-13. The 67 also matches the team low for the year, joining Torres who did so at the Bama Beach Bash. It ranks tied for the third-best round in program history. Uchida is in second place on the individual leaderboard at 5-under. She is three strokes back of Napat Lertsadwattana from New Mexico for the lead.
Bergsdottir had the second-best round of the day for Colorado State with a 2-under, 70. She came out of the gates fast with back-to-back birdies to start the day. Making the turn at 2-under she was consistent on the back nine with just one birdie and bogey. She is also inside the top 10 tied for seventh and even-par overall.
Torres sits a stroke behind Bergsdottir after her 1-under, 71 Wednesday. She birdied the tough 18th hole to end up in the red. Torres will enter the final round in 14th at 1-over overall.
Colorado State enters Wednesday's final round nine strokes behind San Jose State for first place. The Rams are looking for their first top 3 finish since 2018. CSU is paired with SJSU and New Mexico in the final round starting at 9:30 am MT. Live results can be found on GolfStat.
