Nilsson Joins Men’s Golf Recruiting Class

Men’s golf welcomes Swede Sebastian Nilsson to team
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Head coach Michael Wilson welcomes one of the top amateur Swedish golfers to the Colorado State men's golf team in Sebastian Nilsson. Nilsson hails from Sundsvall, Sweden, adding to CSU's European group of fellow Swede Rasmus Hjelm and Austrian Christoph Bleier.
"We are excited to welcome Sebastian to the CSU men's golf family. Upon commitment, he enters the program ranked 324 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings," Wilson said. "Sebastian is hard working with big hopes and ambitions. We look forward to watching his career continue to unfold here in Fort Collins and help the team bring home championships."
Nilsson is currently ranked 324th in the World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR) having won three events over the past two years and picked up 10 top-10 finishes. All three of those wins have come in the past year claiming the title at the JSM Match Teen Tour Elite #4, Swedish Invitacional GolfTech Tour 1 and Svenska Juniortouren Elit #2.
"I chose CSU because I like what they stand for and what the intentions are for the team," Nilsson said. "I'm looking forward to the fall and meeting all the team and seeing what we can accomplish together"
A graduate of the Swedish National School of Golf, Nilsson joins former teammates Daniel Svard (Northwestern), Edit Hertzman (LSU), Ella Kraft (Sacramento State) and Rebecca Gyllner (San Jose State) to play collegiate golf.
Nilsson is the third signing of CSU's 2023 recruiting class joining previous signees Jake Rodgers and Derek Lekkerkerk. They join a program that advanced to the NCAA Championship in 2023 for the first time in 12 years.
