Rachel Erickson is elevated from Director of Player Development to Assistant Coach

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – After joining the Colorado State women's basketball program as the Director of Player Development, Rachel Erickson has been elevated to Assistant Coach, head coach Ryun Williams announced Thursday.

"Rachel has been an outstanding addition to our staff since joining in May 2022," said Williams. "Rachel is a valuable recruiter and is great on the practice floor. I'm excited to use her strengths even more as we continue to build a championship program and a perennial contender in the Mountain West."

Erickson joined the women's basketball staff in May of 2022 and served as the Director of Player Development for the 2022-23 season when the Rams went to 20-12 overall and 12-6 in the Mountain West on their way to an appearance in the WNIT. The 2022-23 season also produced the first All-America honor in two decades with McKenna Hofschild being named by the Associated Press, following her selection as the Mountain West Player of the Year.

"I love being a part of the Colorado State community and having a positive impact on our student-athletes," said Erickson. "I would like to thank Coach Williams for this opportunity and the trust to help coach this team of outstanding young ladies. I look forward to being able to develop our student-athletes on and off the court, while also adding to the progress towards a championship culture."

Prior to Fort Collins, Erickson spent two seasons on staff at University of Sioux Falls after starting her coaching career at her alma mater Black Hills State University in 2019. In her time at USF, the Cougars compiled a 24-18 overall record with a 19-14 mark in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and earned two trips to the NSIC Stanford-Health Postseason Tournament. In 2021-22 season, the Cougars finished third in the South Division led by freshman guard Megan Fannin who was awarded All-NSIC Second Team honors. During the shortened COVID season that saw USF play just 14 games, Anna Brecht was named All-NSIC First Team en route to the program's sixth-straight conference tourney appearance. Seven academic all-conference awards were awarded to Cougars in Erickson's two seasons.
