Katie Stinchcomb joins the women’s golf program from Memphis
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Coming off one of the best seasons in program history, Colorado State women's golf welcomes Memphis transfer Katie Stinchcomb to the team in 2023-24. The Cave Creek, Arizona native returns west after spending two years at Memphis.
"We are very excited to welcome Katie to our team," head coach Laura Cilek said. "Katie brings a lot of playing experience after starting her career at Memphis for two years. With her experience and great energy, we think she will be a great addition to our program and will be able to compete from the start."
Stinchcomb played in all 20 tournaments during her time as a Tiger, picking up one top 10 and five top 20 finishes. Her best finish came at the USA Intercollegiate last year when she tied for 10th shooting a 3-under, 213. She matched her career-low round in that tournament with an opening 69. She also shot a 69 at the USA Intercollegiate as a freshman.
"I believe Colorado State will give me the opportunity to thrive both academically and, on the course," Stinchcomb said. "Being from Arizona, the proximity to home is perfect. I love going to cute restaurants and shops, so Old Town Fort Collins is right up my alley. The golf practice facilities are unmatched and the golf community in Fort Collins is super supportive."
She played on one of the best high school programs in the nation at Pinnacle High School. She was on the National Championship team that earned the title in 2020 at historic Pinehurst. Stinchcomb was a runner-up individually at the same tournament. A two-time first team All-State selection, she helped Pinnacle to the AIA Division I Girls State title in 2019.
Stinchcomb joins a Colorado State team that had set the program's stroke average in 2022-23 and returns its main five starters.
