CSU freshman's strong performance earns honor
COLORADO SPRINGS – Kara Kaneshiro showed no signs of freshman jitters in her first month of college golf earning the Mountain West's Freshman Golf of the Month honors.
The Hawaiian had a pair of top 15 finishes with a stroke average of 70.83 as the Rams competed in a pair of tournaments. Her best finish came at the Ptarmigan Ram Classic taking fifth with a 10-under, 206. She posted back-to-back 67s to start the tournament, helping Colorado State win their home tournament in record fashion.
CSU claimed the Ptarmigan Ram Classic title for the first time since 2004 with an impressive 54-hole program record 46-under, 818.
In her first career start, Kaneshiro finished tied for 14th at the Badger Invitational.
Colorado State women's golf returns to the course October 9-10 at the Dale McNamara Invitational in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
