Rams Set for Difficult Non-Conference Slate

Colorado State will face six teams during the non-conference that reached the postseason a season ago
FORT COLLINS – Loading up the non-conference schedule. It's what head coach Ryun Williams wants.
Â
"Our non-conference schedule is going to be tough," said Williams. "We want it to be difficult and challenging to get us ready for Mountain West play and the postseason. A lot of the teams we'll play in this non-conference made postseason runs last year and are picked to win their conferences. We also are playing a handful of true road games against great teams, which will test us away from Moby. This schedule will be a good test for us and give us a taste of what to expect in March."
Â
Colorado State will play an 11-game non-conference schedule, not including an exhibition game, with six of those contests being played at Moby Arena. The Rams will also have their work cut out before Mountain West action, facing six teams that reached the postseason in 2022-23, including an NCAA Tournament team.
Â
The Rams will start the non-conference slate with an exhibition game against UCCS. From there, CSU will host Le Moyne College, a program transitioning to division I status and will be the first contest for the Dolphins in the era. The Colorado State men's team will also play that evening, hosting LA Tech as part of a doubleheader.
Â
Colorado State will stay home for its next three games, hosting Alabama A&M, New Hampshire and South Dakota Mines.
Â
CSU will play away from Moby Arena for the first time on the schedule, playing at San Francisco, a WNIT team last year. The game will also be played at the Chase Center and a part of a doubleheader with USF's men's team playing Minnesota.
Â
From the Bay Area, CSU will head to south Texas to play at UTEP – a 20-win team a season ago and appeared in the WNIT.
Â
The Rams will return home and host High Point, their third-consecutive 2022-23 postseason team on the schedule, before playing at Montana to start three-consecutive road games.
Â
Colorado State will finish its road trip at The Beach Classic where the Rams will face Long Beach State and UC-Irvine – both programs played in the WNIT a season ago and finished as the top two in the Big West standings.
Â
The Rams conclude their non-conference slate at home, hosting SEC foe from the 2022-23 season with Mississippi State. The Bulldogs reached the NCAA Tournament as season ago, playing out of the first-four round and reaching the second round.
