Cross Country stays competitive with several ranked programs.

PRINCETON, N.J. - Colorado State cross country traveled to Princeton, N.J., for the Princeton Fall Classic on Friday, with the men taking home fifth place and the women sixth. CSU's strong performance allowed it to be in the mix with a plethora of ranked competition.

The Ram women only found themselves below ranked teams on the podium Friday, including two top-10 teams in Georgetown (9th) and Providence (10th). The men were also only bested by ranked opponents, finding themselves just one place below No. 11 North Carolina.

The Ram men compiled a quartet of top-30 finishes from graduate students, headlined by 16th place Lars Mitchel (23:16.7). Mitchel finished less than three seconds ahead of teammate and 18th place finisher Michael Mooney (23:19.2), while Cory Kennedy (25th, 23:25.3) and Sam Griffith (28th, 23:30.9) rounded out the top-four for the men.

Quinn McConnell ran a 20:06.3 to finish in 14th place to lead the day on the women's side. Anna Petr was another top-30 finisher for CSU, running a 20:13.1 which finished 24th, and Kensey May (33rd 20:25.3) rounded out the top three finishers for the women.

Freshman Allison Pippert was the fourth Ram to cross the finish line for the women and added another top-50 finish to her young career. Pippert's 20:43.3 shattered her personal best, and the former Mountain West Women's XC Freshman of the Week continues to make a strong impact only three events into her collegiate career.

Championship season is here for Colorado State as it turns its focus to the Mountain West Championships on November 1st. The Ram women will look to defend their title from 2023 at the Eisenhower Golf Course in USAFA, Colo.
