Emma Ronsiek Captures Mountain West Player of the Week

Forward averaged 22.0 points and 4.5 assists per game in first week with Rams.
FORT COLLINS. – How's that for a first impression? After averaging 22.0 points, 4.5 assists and 3.5 rebounds in her first two games with the Colorado State women's basketball program, Emma Ronsiek was named the season's first Mountain West Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.

Ronsiek, who transferred to the Rams after playing four seasons at Creighton, was instrumental Colorado State's pair of victories in the opening week of the season. In the season opener against San Francisco, the Rams needed to put together a come-from-behind effort that was aided, in large part, to Ronsiek's game-high 18 points.

In Friday's matchup against Oregon State – a team that played in the Elite Eight a season ago – the MW Co-Preseason Player of the Year led all scorers with 26 points on an impressive 10-of-17 shooting from the floor and 6-of-11 from deep. Ronsiek also chipped in six assists with zero turnovers, playing all 40 minutes in CSU's 65-59 victory.

Through the first week of the season, Ronsiek is tied for or leads the MW in total points (44), points per game (22.0), assist/turnover ratio (9.00), and minutes per game (40.0). Additionally, the Sioux Falls, S.D., native is second in assists per game (4.5) and tied for second in 3-point field goals per game (4.0).

Ronsiek and the Rams look to improve on their 2-0 start to the season this week as they prepare for a road trip to face BYU (Nov. 13) before returning home to face Columbia College on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Moby Arena.
