Colorado State men’s basketball hosts UC Riverside on Friday

FORT COLLINS – Back in the friendly confines of Moby Arena, CSU men's basketball hosts UC Riverside on November 22 at 7 p.m.
 
Opening Tip
- Colorado State suffered its first loss of the season against Ole Miss 84-69 last Saturday.
- Jalen Lake continues his hot start to the season with 21 point performance connecting on  a career-high tying five 3-pointers.
- The senior is averaging 17.3 points per game while shooting 55.8% from the field, 50.0% behind the arc and 90.0% from the foul line.
- Nique Clifford continues to fill it up for the Rams with his 20.3 points and 10.8 rebounds a game. The fifth year is leading the nation averaging 9.75 defensive rebounds a game.
- Clifford scored 18 in the loss against Ole Miss adding in seven rebounds and five assists.
- He was selected to the preseason All-Mountain West team after earning third team honors last season.
- Freshman Kyle Jorgensen picked up Mountain West Freshman of the Week honors after averaging 9.0 points and 6.0 rebounds in his first two games. He scored seven straight points for the Rams in overtime to lift them past TSU.
- Jorgensen earned his first start against Denver and is averaging 7.5 points and 4.0 rebounds.
- Playing in his first game in 333 days and have only played 14 minutes of game action in 667 days, Keshawn Williams showed off his athletic ability scoring 14 points off the bench for CSU in the season opener.
- Friday's game against UC Riverside is the first meeting between the two programs.
- Head coach Niko Medved is in his seventh year leading Colorado State. He is 120-75 as the Rams' head coach. His next win will be the 200th of his career and tie him for the second most in program history with Stew Morrill (1992-98) and Larry Eustachy (2012-18).
- He became the fifth coach in program history to reach 100 wins in Fort Collins last year.
- Medved is the only coach in program history to win 20-plus games four times.
- The Rams finished 15-2 last year inside Moby Arena, which was the second-highest in program history.
- CSU is 64-15 (.810) inside Moby Arena for the past six years.
- The Rams welcome 10 new faces to the program in 2024-25. Six are transfers, and four are true freshmen.
- The program's all-time leading scorer and assists leader, Isaiah Stevens has moved on to professional basketball after exhausting his eligibility. He is currently with the Sioux Falls Skyforce, the G League affiliate of the Miami Heat.
- Stevens helped the Heat to a 2024 Summer League Championship.
- CSU has two players currently in the NBA or G League with David Roddy (Atlanta Hawks) and Isaiah Stevens (Miami Heat/Sioux Falls Skyforce).
 
Scouting the Highlanders
UC Riverside enters Friday's contest at 2-3 on the season. They have won the games they are supposed to and dropped the ones they are supposed to.
 
The Highlanders have a strong guard combo of Barrington Hargress and Isaiah Moses leading the team. Hargress leads the way with 17.4 points per game and 22 assists overall, while Moses adds 11.2 points and has 20 assists.
 
A key component of UCR's offense is the duo's shooting of 3s, which has combined to shoot 65 of the team's 150 so far this season.
 
Opponents have been able to shoot well on UCR going 48.2% from the field.

Colorado State heads to Palm Springs for Thanksgiving to play in the Acrisure Invitational. CSU will take on Washington on Thanksgiving Day at 2 p.m. on TruTV.
