Colorado State starts new season with three-game homestand

FORT COLLINS – The squeak of the shoes, the swish or the net, the roar of Moby Madness is officially back on Monday, November 4 when Colorado State men's basketball opens its 2024-25 season against North Dakota at 7:30 p.m.
 
The game is a part of a tip-off doubleheader with the women's team who hosts San Francisco at 5:30 p.m. Tickets for the game and all season can be purchased at CSURams.com/Tickets or by calling 800-491-RAM (7267).
 
CSU warmed up for the 2024-25 season with a 90-74 win over Adams State last week.
 
Opening Tip
- Colorado State enters the 2024-25 season after advancing to its second NCAA Tournament in three years in 2023-24.
- The Rams finished the year 25-11 overall, earning the program's first NCAA Tournament win in 12 years.
- CSU had a pair of All-Conference performers last year in Isaiah Stevens (first team) and Nique Clifford (third team)
- Colorado State has had a first team All-Mountain West selection for six straight years under Niko Medved in Stevens (2023, 24), David Roddy (2021, 22) and Nico Carvacho (2019, 20).
- CSU has won 20 games four times in the past five years.
- The 25 wins tied for the third most in program history.
- Head coach Niko Medved is in his sixth year leading Colorado State. He is 117-75 as the Rams' head coach. - He became the fifth coach in program history to reach 100 wins in Fort Collins last year.
- Medved enters the 2024-25 season four wins shy of 200 for his career. 
- He is the only coach in program history to win 20-plus games four times.
- The Rams finished last year 15-2 inside Moby Arena.
- The 15 wins inside Moby are the second most in program history, trailing only the 16 by the 2012-13 team.
- Nique Clifford has enjoyed his first year in Fort Collins transferring to Colorado State from Colorado. He shot an impressive 52 .2 from the field including 37.6% from behind the arc on his way to averaging 12.2 points and 7.6 rebounds.
- Clifford comes into his final year of eligibility with high expectations earning a spot on the preseason All-Mountain West list.
- CSU welcomes 10 new faces to the program in 2024-25. Six are transfers with four others being true freshman.
- The Rams will have to replace five seniors from last year's NCAA Tournament team.
- The program's all-time leading scorer and assists leader, Isaiah Stevens has moved on to professional basketball after exhausting his eligility. He is currenlty with the Sioux Falls Skyforce, the G League affiliate of the Miami Heat.
- Stevens helped the Heat to a 2024 Summer League Championship.
- CSU has two players currenlty in the NBA or G League with David Roddy (Atlanta Hawks) and Isaiah Stevens (Miami Heat/Sioux Falls Skyforce).
- Colorado State led the Mountain West in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.72), assists per game (18.0), effective field goal percentage (54.9%) and free throw percentage (75.2%).
 
Scouting the Fighting Hawks
Head coach Paul Sather enters his sixth season in Grand Forks. UND is coming on an 18-win season a year ago and tying for second in the Summit League.
 
The Fighting Hawks will have to replace 55% of its scoring from last year including three of its top four scorers.
 
Guard Treysen Eagelstaff returns North Dakota after averaging 14.4 points per game in 2023-24. He was named to the Preseason All-Summit League team.
 
UND was picked to finish sixth in the Summit League this season.
 
What's Ahead
Colorado State continues its three-game home stand to open the 2024-25 season on Friday when they host Tennessee State. It is once again a part of a doubleheader with the women's basketball team who host Oregon State at 5:30 p.m. The men's game is set to tip at 7:30 p.m.
