Rams out to start dual win streak

FORT COLLINS  – Not all duals are built the same. This one is different.

"This is the one you circle on the calendar. They are going to come after us, and we hope it brings out the best in our team," CSU women's swimming and diving coach Christopher Woodard said of Friday's Border War dual with Wyoming. "We look forward to this dual every year. They are a strong program, and we're going to have to be up to the challenge they present."

The meet will be held Friday at Edora Pool Ice Center, beginning at 4 p.m.

The Rams are coming off a busy weekend where they split duals, falling to Denver on the road and coming back to beat Colorado Mesa at Moby Pool. Currently 1-2 in duals this season, the team has been in a stage of training where the yardage is building up and the bodies are feeling the effects.

Even still, Woodard was encouraged by the response from his team in the win over the Mavericks, one where he felt his squad rose to the occasion and competed through the pain. The win featured some breakout swims from members who had opened the season in search of past performances. Highlighting them, both Rylee O'Neil and Skyler Lyon posted top-10 swims in the conference this season for the first time.

Wyoming enters the meet 4-0 in duals, one of those coming against Colorado Mesa. The Cowgirls have already beaten Mountain West foes Air Force and New Mexico. This won't be the first time the two teams have seen each other as both took part in the Front Range Invitational at Air Force to open the season.

This will be the last dual of the front portion of the schedule for Colorado State, with only the Iowa Invitational to follow before the holiday break.
